PHARMAFREIGHT LAUNCHES ITS GOOD TRANSPORTATION PRACTICE SERVICE AT CPhI

Pharmafreight, the independent network of freight forwarding agents specialising in the worldwide movement of pharmaceuticals, is exhibiting at CPhI this year to highlight its dedication to Good Transportation Practice.

Pharmafreight was established in 2001 to create a new type of freight forwarding network, specialising in the pharmaceutical industry. Nearly three years on, and Pharmafreight is now comprised of independent freight companies located in all major markets of the pharmaceutical industry, providing companies with general forwarding and cool chain distribution solutions to ensure API’s (active pharmaceutical ingredients), clinical trials, finished products and raw materials arrive at the correct temperature, under controlled conditions.

The main difference between Pharmafreight and other logistics companies is its dedication to the running of good pharmaceutical practice within the operation. Pharmafreight has developed its own Protocol for the Global Transportation of Pharmaceutical Products, and the network is now unfolding its own recommendations for the good pharmaceutical practice (GxP) range, under the banner of Good Transportation Practice.

Mick Scholefield, Pharmafreight Managing Director, commented: “Every destination’s Pharmafreight office is required to have specific knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution and must manage quality systems based on the EU Guidelines for Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use (94/C/63/03). And more recently, Pharmafreight has developed its own protocol for handling pharma consignments,  and is writing guidelines - and subsequently a training course - on Good Transportation Practice for its operatives to follow.”
