Compliance and Quality

Established in 2001, Pharmafreight is a global group of independent specialist freight providers working in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors, all working to the same quality standard, Good Distribution Practice (EU 2013/C 343/01). The like-minded companies all offer temperature controlled forwarding and logistics services, some with their own national healthcare regulatory licences, allowing products to be stored, packed and distributed. Pharmafreight offers the global presence of a multi-national forwarder, however with more flexibility in the local solutions it can offer, tailoring its service to a clients’ needs, rather than the client having to fit into the forwarders’ own systems. All of its global locations are physically audited to the GDP standard, and a continuous training and development programme is in place to ensure Pharmafreight offers the latest innovative solutions to its clients in pharma and healthcare logistics on a world stage.

The aim of GDP is to ensure the quality of a medicinal product for the safety, well-being and protection of the patient. In achieving this aim it is impossible to overemphasize the importance of people, at all levels and in all parts of the supply chain, in the assurance of the quality of medicinal products. It has, however, long since been recognized that there are many anomalies in the supply chain for this industry. Pharma warehouses go to great lengths to protect manufactured products whilst in their care, but once they are handed over to a freight forwarder for movement to the main distributor or end user, maybe in another country, such products can be exposed to extreme temperatures and handling procedures which can in turn compromise their integrity, and in the worst cases rendering them worthless. With the adoption of GDP system among its chosen partners, Pharmafreight has positioned itself to provide a global logistics system to protect these products in between the manufacturer and the end user.

Pharmafreight’s in-depth knowledge and independent structure allows it to make quick decisions and responses to ensure successful movements are completed for customers. Although all operations are carried out against the background of a Consignment Protocol, it is Pharmafreight’s prerogative to adapt appropriately when an urgent situation demands it.
